Move your mind, Move your body, Move your soul.
I saw this image floating through the interwebs probably a year ago. I coasted by it.
Too hard? It was only when my friend Amanda and I were walking the beach a few weeks ago that the image came into my brain again. I was regurgitating a belief I hold that: "We all have everything we need within". Amanda asked me if that was a privileged belief. I was stopped cold. That belief is the basis of all of my work. Self-Love. Self-Trust. Intention setting. Manifesting. Trusting your Intuition. The Universe has your back. We all have access to source. All this time I have been thinking/feeling that my sentiments are "universal". They are not. My beliefs are white-centered based on my white experience. Perhaps this is an a-ha moment that you have already had. For me, it was a ground shaking moment. My intuition, I have come to realize, is not magic. I mean, it is in the way that our brains are magic. Intuition is another way that our brains predict what is next. But my intuition is also steeped in the racist waters we live in. The social constructs I've been taught and created. Our "collective consciousness" is living in these same waters - white supremacy, male domination. And we can improve our predictions, or change them, or broaden them, when we are open to new experiences and perspectives. I felt ashamed. Then pessimistic. Then I wanted to throw it all away. And now, I am back. My skin color is an advantage to me in lot's of different ways, including how I experience wellness. I am continuing to unlearn, leaning in and following others like @accordingtoweeze , @ckyourprivilege, @myishathill, @blackandembodied as I work to de-whiteify my wellness.
