Move your mind, Move your body, Move your soul.
Since I sold the studio in 2018, I have remained teaching in the same space. It has been a challenge. There were definitely days that I dreaded going back in.
Today, after class, I was told by the new owners that they want to take me off the schedule. At first, I was very matter of fact. Not surprised, I had felt this day might come. By the time I got into my car I felt, "huh." Then I was bummed. Then I cried. Fifteen minutes elapsed before I felt -- rejected. Rejection. Not good enough. They don't like you. You won't succeed. You suck. You know the drill. All those terrible, self-critical thoughts come streaming in. So here's what I did (what I am doing!) to talk myself up, take care of myself and survive Rejection. 1. First - make the choice! This is the first step with all things, honestly. You need to choose to move forward. I could wallow. I could whine and call all my friends and bitch and complain. I could trash talk. But I made a choice. Have a good cry, let the feelings move through. 2. Breathe. Alternate nostril breathing makes me calm after only 5 rounds. Hold right nostril, breath in and out left nostril. Hold left nostril, breath in and out right nostril. 3. Keep Kicking Ass. That's it. Notice, Feel, Let Go. Breathe in, Breathe Out. And keep kicking ass.
