Re-Humanizing

OK, So I've been doing more soul searching. I have been looking for a teacher.
The anti-racism work is happening, I've started daily work on A Course in Miracles, I joined a book group with mostly Christian people (I do not classify myself this way). And I'm thinking about joining a women's Kundalini yoga group. A couple of thoughts that have struck me.

So much about the world we live in is de-humanizing. We cut each other down. We don't speak up when boundaries are crossed or challenged. Watching the news is painful.

Taken to the internet, there is bullying of course. But there is also, less "in-your-face" activities that we take that only serve to separate us. We post filtered photos. We curate our lives and then declare on Facebook how amazing it all is. We sell each other on losing weight. We have "in" groups, which of course means there is an "out" group.

Living with authenticity means living with courage (and as Brene Brown reminds us: courage is a heart word). And feeling the feels is both courageous and re-humanizing. So I'm in.

The second thing that is coming up for me is related... Community and experience. I think one of the things I love so much about Kundalini Yoga is that it is an experience. And it's hard to explain to others, you have to just. do. it.

A Course in Miracles suggests that spiritual work must be done in community.
Many suggest that trauma work needs to be done in relationship because the trauma existed in relationship.
Kundalini Yoga reminds us that life is about experience.

Here's the thing about these two realizations (re-humanizing and community): it means I have to show up. And I want to show up in a big way.

But I am so freakin' scared!

You gotta feel it to heal it.

Our physical bodies are the primary tool we use to experience this life. Connecting with our breath, moving vibrations through our physical bodies, feeling what comes up, and then releasing through expression, surrender, creativity. This is being human in these human bodies.
